Nice Brian. I also have a Master Planning Template that our "programming" department uses for our Education projects. I haven't quite worked out all the formulas that they would like to have for adjacency planning and comparisson to California Ed Spec for sizing. But I do give them the basics. I plan on adding calculated values to the schedules eventually. What really cracks me up is our Planners will print out the "bubbles" then place them on the table to move around. I'll eventually get them to use Revit.

I'm going to add a couple of disclaimers.

1) This works for documents uploaded to the Autodesk cloud.
2) Some devices (particularly older ones) will struggle, even if the model itself is not very large. While these file sizes are fairly small, many Android devices are not very robust in terms of computing power.

So, while a work in progress, it's worth a look as its one of the many directions technology is getting leveraged out in the field. When leveraged properly, technology such as this will change the way we collaborate with others.

Bahar,

It depends on how the element was created. For instance, if I draw a rectangular slab and assign it to be a roof by using an in-place family, it will be a roof. After it was created I can do the above and change it to a floor without issue. If an object is created as a System family (such as roofs and floors) then you are correct it won't change. But if it's a typical Revit component family or one created as an in-place family, it should update.

One more thing: If you are creating this family from a Revit template, then you won't be able to convert the family to a System family either. For instance, you can't make a Revit Window into a Wall or a Revit Door into a Roof. But you could make a Window schedule as a Column or that Door schedule as furniture (not that you would, just it's technically possible) because Doors and Windows are not System Families and neither are Columns or Furniture.

Thanks for the response!

You can do the same thing easier by deleting the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Autodesk/AutoCAD/R18.2/ACAD-A000:409" (delete the entire folder) and then in Windows Explorer you need to delete the folder "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2012" (replace with your login name).

If you do it this way, you won't have to mess with the CUI.

Also, you inspired me to write up my own blog post with this technique: http://wp.me/pKldM-dt
